Slacker Tripod Stool August 9, 2009 E. Willis (Southern Ohio) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have used this particular stool for more than a year now. As an adult scouter with a local boy scout troop I use the slacker on our monthly campouts. Our troop continues with the scout tradition of cooking over the campfire and in this context the stool is great. It provides support when you are working with dutch ovens and skillets on a fire grill. I took the stool with us on a recent Boundary Waters canoe trip and it was used extensively on that trip. So far the stool has held up very well, no damage noted anywhere. At 6'0 and 220 lbs I wouldn't use it to lounge next to a campfire but for utility purposes it is excellent. In my opinion it is too heavy to backpack but for general camping an asset.
Nice portable seat December 23, 2009 A reader (Fort Collins, Colorado) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I wanted to switch from a cane seat to something easier to use. If you don't need a cane, the cane seats get to be a hassle to carry around. This seat is much easier to use and carry.
Likes: light, portable, easily folds & unfolds, sits stable. No bag to put it into to carry as it has it's on strap.
Dislikes: Strap is tight even out to the max..should have had a bigger strap, velcro tie strap utilizes a pass through clip to fold back on itself. This enables you to cinch down on the strap but threading the velcro through the clip each time is awkward. A simple wrap around velcro tie would have been easier. Should be able to fix this by adding a velcro patch to the back of the velcro strap.
Overall opinion: I like this chair a lot. Easy to use and easy to carry. Appears very well built.
Perfect fit. April 1, 2010 Ethan I bought this for work. Great to carry with you to the job site if you need a seat to wire electronics or if you need to make an impromptu laptop desk suite for programming. Very sturdy, great price.
It works then breaks April 30, 2009 Sarah Mcdonald (California, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I had this stool for a couple of months and I loved it, it was so handy..until it broke. Now I'm not a heavy person and having the pole tear through the cloth was rather disheartening. I do love the idea of this stool, but the company should make it stronger.
Better Backpacking Chairs Out There April 13, 2010 J. Phillips (United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I ordered this stool with the intention of bringing it backpacking. It's just too big to bring with me, the claim that it is smaller than a rolled up newspaper is true of diameter, but not true on height at all. I'd say it's probably about 25-27 inches long when folded. The weight also comes in play here, it's a little over 30 ounces when other comparable products (both style and price) weigh-in at 18 ounces.
I knew about the warning label (thanks to other reviewers) before I ordered, and certainly wasn't thrilled about it, but certainly plays a factor in my review.
On the plus side for the chair, it's built in strap is a plus, if you are planning on bringing this to an amusement park or the beach I think it would do rather well. the feet are angled which will help with stability.
Shorten the chair, make the legs aluminum, remove the cancer chemicals, and I'm sold, but for today, this is a returned product.
