Customer Reviews: Better Than Eggspected! June 30, 2010 Tim Petrin (Tracy, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I concur with D. Gorder...keep in mind that these are freeze dried - and a bit pricey. However, on a cool Sierra morning, served on a toasted sourdough English Muffin, they're pretty darn good! I prepare as the directions indicate with one added step: just before serving, I drain any excess water. They turn out reasonably firm and very hot. Another suggestion: while the eggs are heating up in the pouch, warm up a flour tortilla and add potatoes, cheese, salsa, etc. to this product and you've got a hearty breakfast burrito.
If you only ate this for breakfast then sure, it's one large serving. When served on English Muffins, my brother and I each get two half-muffins with eggs (from one pouch!). Even my kids request this every time we hit the trail!
At 2.25 ounces, it's light and easy to pack. Great back-up in an emergency. I recommend this product.
Pre-cooked eggs with bacon July 14, 2010 Pete (Aurora CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This review is for the Pre-Cooked egs with bacon.
Well not the best eggs I've had. The eggs barely assimilate their non-dry counterparts. After cooking it like instructed the eggs looked like yellow cubes of puffy paper, once I put them in my mouth, they tasted almost like yellow cubes of puffy paper with barely a hint of egg taste in them.
The bacon helps out a lot and there's lots of bacon in the bag, the problem is that most of the bacon goes down to the bottom of the bag and it's hard to dig them out since their really small and the bag opening is so narrow.
But if you're like me and you just absolutely NEED eggs for breakfast, consider getting this, because there is no easier way to cook eggs up in the mountains when you go camping/hiking/whatever.
Now if you are not a big fan of eggs then skip on this, I can guarantee you won't like them.
